The base and cheapest Honda City variant is the SV, while the high-end and the most expensive one is the Honda City ZX CVT. In addition, there is the Honda City Hybrid, a unique entry in the compact sedan segment. Known as the City e:HEV, it was initially available across two trims, the V variant and the ZX variant. But currently Honda Hybrid is available only in the ZX trim.

Exterior
Honda has made significant changes to the exterior of the new-gen 2024 City, compared to its predecessors. It looks sportier and more robust than the earlier models with the honeycomb grille in the front now enhanced with a slimmer chrome strip.

The front bumper has a muscular and chiselled look with a faux carbon fibre finish right on the chin. Some of the variants are equipped with auto high beams to prevent blinding oncoming traffic.

On the other hand, the full LED headlamp design remains pretty much the same as before. The rear design too is quite consistent with the earlier versions, except for the sportier rear bumper and body-coloured boot lid spoiler. The rear bumper looks a bit slimmer too due to the lower portion being in black. Similar to the front bumper, it has been fitted with faux carbon-fibre elements. Plus, the 16-inch alloy wheels have been refurbished to sport a new look. Finally, a new colour has been added to the preexisting palette of the Honda City – a very royal and elegant Obsidian Blue.

Performance
The latest updates in the Honda City lineup include scrapping the diesel variants. So now there are two petrol engine options available for consumers to choose from. One of these is the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine which has about 121PS of power. It is available with a six-speed manual as well as a CVT automatic. The other engine is the strong-hybrid, which is a combination of an electric motor and the internal combustion engine with a capacity of 126PS of power.

Both engines provide the Honda City with an effortless performance even with minimal gear shifts. Besides, the gear shifts are slick, enabled by a seamless and progressive clutch technology. This makes driving in the city and even everyday commutes quite hassle-free.

For those looking for a more powerful driving capability, the hybrid engine would be a better choice to consider. This is because it gives instant acceleration even at lower speeds. Plus, its performance is refined and smoother.

Interior
The interior cabin of the latest Honda City 2024 is pretty much the same as the earlier models. The dash design still looks elegant and not sporty, which makes the City a top-rated car in its segment. Besides, all the touch points on the dashboard have a high-quality soft-material finish. Also, the rotary knobs and climate controls have been designed to be smooth during every use. The only change is the carbon fibre-finish inserts on the dashboard of the Hybrid variant, lending it a trendy and upmarket look.

Cargo space
In terms of boot space, the Honda City is quite spacious with about a 506-litre boot for the standard variant. Large for a compact sedan, it can easily fit some trolley bags as well as bulky grocery bags. But the Hybrid variant has a smaller boot space at around 410 litres. This is because the battery pack takes up a lot of space.

Safety features
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is a standard feature across all Honda City variants, except for the base trim, SV. This is a camera-based system that is equipped with features such as emergency brake assist, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Cost
The latest Honda City’s price varies across cities but the on-road cost starts from around Rs. 14.06 lakhs for the base variant Honda City SV, while the V Elegant variant has an on-road price of approximately Rs 14.76 lakhs. The V variant has an on-road price tag of about Rs 14.82 lakhs while the VX costs around Rs. 16 lakhs.

The V Elegant CVT is priced at approximately Rs 16.18 lakhs; the V CVT at about Rs 16.23 lakhs; the ZX, VX CVT, and ZX CVT at Rs 17.36 lakhs, Rs 17.45 lakhs, and Rs 18.78 lakhs respectively. Finally, the Honda City Hybrid variant’s price ranges between Rs 21.78 lakhs and Rs 23.54 lakhs.

There are many Honda City special offers for on-road price points with multiple deals rolled out by dealerships. These deals include discounts that take off a substantial amount from the MRP of the car. Besides, some dealerships might also have exchange offers or exchange bonuses where one can trade their old car for a discount on a brand new 2024 Honda City. In addition, some dealerships often offer corporate discounts and government employee discounts, which can significantly bring down the overall cost of the car.
