Heart diseases  – Heart attacks and other cardiovascular ailments commonly occur among people who smoke persistently.

Immune system disorders  – Autoimmune diseases like Cohn’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis may occur due to an addiction to smoking.

Lungs diseases  – The lungs can also be affected the most when it comes to diseases caused due to smoking. Some of the alarming lung diseases have been listed as follows:

  • Lung cancer:  Smoking is majorly related to the development of lung cancer. A scar may occur in the lungs due to excessive smoking. It can develop further to become a cancerous tissue.
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) – There is no cure for this disease. A person may experience conditions like tightening of the chest, breathlessness, and wheezing.
  • Emphysemia  – This is a type of COPD which is both incurable and irreversible in nature. In this disease, the number of air sacs in the lungs reduce. It can cause a person to experience difficulty in breathing. They may need an oxygen mask every time to breath.
  • One can also experience conditions such as asthma, pneumonia, and tuberculosis as a result of smoking.

Mouth diseases  – Squamous cell cancer is a common mouth disease that a smoker may suffer from.

Reproductive abnormalities  – There are a number of reproductive abnormalities that can occur due to excessive smoking. Conditions like premature birth, miscarriage, infant illness, and stillbirth may occur if the mother is an addict.
